- CONNECTIONS - Jursammic Park Train Station

Welcome to another edition of Connections where this month we visit the Jursammic Park Train Station.

Located just on the outskirts of Grimshire, the Jursammic Park Train Station stands like a pinnacle above the grassy knolls and open fields that surround it. Originally built to house the rail connection between Imperial City and Jursammic Park, the train station has been expanded, renovated and upgraded several times in its recent past.

The first major upgrade was to the interior layout. With the invention of teleporters, individual kiosks were installed within the station to allow quick access to distant locales and kingdoms. The help desk and lounge were also relocated to a separate wing to allow space for the new teleportation areas.

More renovations followed as the number of teleporter kiosks increased, the map room was added and the Nether Portal was incorporated into the design. Color coordination was also added to differentiate kiosks between the different kingdoms. For example, the red kiosk section is reserved for all international destinations, whereas the grey section is reserved for all Jursammic Park teleporter locations.

The last major upgrade happened only a few short months ago when the amount of teleporter kiosks overwhelmed the current space allocations. Recognizing this as a problem that would continue to arise, SammyMacman had his construction company, Sam Co., design and renovate the facility to include multiple floors available for more kiosks to be added in the future.

Despite the ease of the teleporter technology, it is important to note that original train connections are still active and are currently in use. Proving that sometimes the journey itself is more important then the speed it takes to get from point A to point B.

- RAAR News - March-June

RAAR NEWS

MARCH - JUNE EDITION

Jursammic Expanding

Since last year, Jursammic Park has nearly doubled in size and with twice as many locations to travel to, an upgrade to the Jursammic Park teleportation system was drastically needed. Under the guiding hands of Sam Co. owner, SammyMacman, crews began the delicate and extensive work needed to increase the teleportation capacity of the station earlier this year.

By the end of March, Sam Co. crews completed their work and the station was re-opened. The expanded location now features several floors of teleportation booths and will allow for future expansion when needed.

Sending In Reinforcements

In March, Imperial City Council met to discuss the need to expand the downtown core. After much debate, it was decided that the current plots of land located in the core needed to be increased in size. In order to accomplish this, construction crews would need to dig further into the dirt slopes of Holland Hills, a residential community located on the north side of the Royal Canal.

After the completion of a feasibility study, City Council approved the expansion, requiring large retaining walls to be placed along the exposed slopes of Holland Hills. Ground was broken on the first of April and lasted a week. Several new and larger land plots are now available for development.

Bridging The Gap

Corresponding with Imperial City's plan to increase downtown plot sizes, two new bridges were also approved for construction. The Holland Hills bridge which was demolished in March to accommodate the shorter span across the Royal Canal. After a complete re-design the bridge was rebuilt over the coarse of the April month.

A second bridge also began to be constructed in April and was completed in May of this year. The Skywalk bridge now allows a second route across the canal and access to the eastern shore of the Imperial City downtown.

The Big News

RAAR News announced in June that it had acquired a parcel of land in Imperial City and have begun to construct the RAAR News building. No word yet on when the project is expected to be completed.

Very Amusing

A secret project was unveiled on June 8th; the TIEland Amusement Park. Located on a peninsula south of Roundhead, the park has been under construction since May of this year. It has also been confirmed that the first ride at the amusement land will soon be opened. It is called the Rocky River Rampage.

Park officials have also told RAAR News that they are seeking more ride ideas from you, so be sure to submit them in the comments below, on the community page or like our special TIEland Pinterest board to be invited to pin your amusement park ideas to it.

One Stop Shop

With the continued expansion of the Southern Galactic Railroad, a new stop has been added along its path. Almost overnight, the town of Whistlestop has popped up allowing railroad workers quicker access to the worksite. Around the town, forests are being cleared to make way for farms and homesteads. Whistlestop aims to be a small farming community that will offer a stop to weary travellers needing a good night's rest and access to the Stoney Mountain Nation Park.

Port of Entry

Already highlighted in the June  edition of Spotlight, Grimshire has completed the final work on its new harbor. Ships are already docking at this newly developed port which allows the folks of Grimshire new found access to the trades of the world. Be sure to check out the Spotlight Feature.

Topping It Off

On Sunday, Talamer released another new Minecraft World of RAAR video on our YouTube channel showing the completion of the exterior of Geocaching Headquarters. He also goes through the steps of creating a simple weather machine. You can check out the video below and be sure to subscribe for more!

-SPOTLIGHT- Grimshire Harbor

Hello Crafty Miners! Welcome to another edition of Spotlight. This week we travel back into the land of Jursammic Park to explore the freshly built Grimshire Harbor. So, let's get to it.

With the completion of Port Davies in Imperial City, the town of Grimshire also decided a harbor was needed in order to access the world trade. Sam Co. architects took to the job in early spring designing a dock, crane and warehouse that would both suit the needs of the citizens and match the unique design style of the town.

Once the design was complete, Sam Co. Construction crews prepared the site and began to construct the new port. Once the crane and warehouse were complete, spruce piles were driven into the sea bed to support the dock platform.

Not long after the completion of the dock, ships began to pour into the new access point allowing Grimshire to begin to import and export their wares.

The tall ship seen docked below was specially designed by Sam Co. owner, SammyMacman. It was launched from Macwood in late spring and has already done several transport runs between the two cities. More ships are expected to be commissioned before too long. Rumor has it a shipyard is in the initial planning stages in Imperial City.

-SPOTLIGHT- Grim Isle

Hello Crafty Miners and welcome back for another edition of Spotlight. This week we travel to the barter town of Grim Isle to explore the history and architecture of this small community.

Built on a small island, Grim Isle was originally home to the poorest people of Grimshire whom had begun trading with travelers that passed along the main road connecting to their former home. Before long a barter town sprung up and soon more and more people flocked to the island in hopes of making a gainful living.  Houses were built wherever space could be found until the homes were just barely clinging to the island.

When Sam Co. established a factory in the neighboring Grimshire, it was also decided that the island be made an official Trading Post. A new road was constructed with bridges making Grim Isle a stopping point for travelers.

In recent times, the introduction of horses has changed how roads are constructed. Unable to expand the existing structure, the new horse trail road has had to bypass the island. Hopes are for the inhabitants that the new bypass will not permanently draw away travelers from their town, but only time can tell.

We hope you have enjoyed this look at Grim Isle. Thank you for your support and for your comments. They are much appreciated. Be sure to join our Google+ community so you can get future updates ASAP. You are all awesome! Until we meet again, Happy Crafting!

-SPOTLIGHT- Grimshire

Hello Crafty Miners! Welcome back to the World of RAAR. Today we travel back to the land of Jursammic Park to explore the small industrial city of Grimshire.

Once a tiny settlement built on a solitary hill, Grimshire has slowly started to become a thriving metropolis with shops, a market, stables and an influx of new homes. The city was originally named for the grim, bleak feel that existed during the Great Industrial Depression.

On an expeditionary quest which yielded the founding of Monument Lake and Dragonshire, Sam Co. founder, SammyMacman also discovered this sad and poverty stricken town and decided to revitalize it by building the Sam Co. Industrial Factory. Other revitalization projects have included the Jursammic Park Train Station and the Skystone Inn.

Much of the past architecture remains in the city with its towering three story homes and tight, winding streets. It's quite easy to get lost walking through the maze of buildings. Luckily the Factory which stands like a beacon helps guide the populace through their daily activities.

A bright future looks to be dawning on Grimshire. We hope you have enjoyed this brief look at one of the World of RAAR's emerging cities and hope you will be back soon as we unveil more of this continuously growing world with it's variety of creations. Until we meet again, Happy Crafting!
