-World of Raar News!- Apr. 18, 2014

Hello Crafty Miners! Welcome back to the latest edition of Raar News. Things have been quiet over the last two weeks in the World of Raar as construction crews have been on vacation. We do have a few highlights to share, so lets get to it!

DOWNTOWN PARK TAKES SHAPE

The landscaping division of Sam Co. has begun redeveloping the lot adjacent to City Hall and the Bank of Ender. The new park will provide those who frequent the downtown core with a much needed green space and a place to enjoy the view across the river and surrounding architecture.

TREVORIAN CATHEDRAL CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

In Trevoria, the elegant Trevorian Cathedral continues to take shape. Recently, the central entrance section has been added. Though a slow process, construction crews on the cathedral have tirelessly continued their meticulous work on this ever emerging wonder.

HORSE STABLE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

The exterior of Lady TNT_McD's horse stable has continued to grow. Work has also begun on the interior with the installation of new horse stalls.

THE IMPERIAL EMPIRE MAP UNVEILED

This week a map was released showing the whole of The Imperial Empire from Imperial City in the west to Roundhead in the east. The map also reveals the extent that Imperial City has grown over the last year.

NEW ARENA LOCATION REVEALED

This week the Imperial City Planning Commissioner revealed plans for a future Spleef Arena. The arena's location was disclosed in a preliminary map released to the press after the Commissioner's announcement. Reasons as to why the center of the bay was chosen for the arena's construction were outlined by the Commissioner during his presentation.

"The biggest factor is future growth. Where do we want the city to grow?" he asked, "In the west we have Imperial Forest, in the south Venice, in the east is the mountains and Castle Roundhead, which leaves the only real room for future growth to the north. In order to establish continuity between the northern shores and the city, the proposed arena location would be the best way to achieve this."

No time frame was given for the beginning of this latest project, but it is speculated to start shortly after the arrival of new technology in the city which was revealed at the World Technology Expo 1.8.

-Spotlight- Lantern Rock Harbor

Hello again, Crafty Miners. For this week's spotlight, we travel far to the west of Jursammic Park, to an isolated island with some very unique features. Lantern Rock Harbour is a tranquil and humble home of the Swig Jiggers, a friendly sort of fishermen folk who inhabit the small island. Bright vibrant colored homes gives this place an inviting feel. To guide the boats home, a large lantern was hung from the jut of rock that cantilevers over the ocean below. It's beams of light penetrate even the darkest nights and wildest storms.

Rumors of days long past tell stories of pirates travelling to the island and hiding their booty within the hollow caverns of Lantern Rock. We met up with a local expert, Gordoff, who told us of these tales from the deep. He mentioned that to date the only things ever recovered from the ominous caverns is a chest full of fishing rods and a barrel full of squid cakes. He also told us of a saucy pirate dance they used to perform in the old days. Eager to display his heritage, Gordoff proceeded to walk to the end of the pier and dance a strange jig and sing what sounded like a rejected drunken sea shanty leaving us to wonder if this man was really an expert on the island or just the village idiot. Rumored also were sheep that inhabited the island, but we were unable to spot any in our brief stay.
Till next time, Happy Crafting!

-NEWSWEEK-

Imperial City Mayor Talamer announced today that the Bank of Ender has been granted a building permit on the lands adjacent to the Imperial City Opera House. It is expected that Sam Co. Construction will be responsible for the redevelopment and subsequent construction of the mega bank which will house one of the largest and most secure vaults known in the World of Raar.

"I was thinking like a Scrooge McDuck vault, with layers of obsidian/lava/bedrock/water/iron etc. depending on how big it is it could have different codes (via 1.8) or doors like Jack Benny’s vault/Get Smart, and it’s a project that could be built inside out." said the owner of Sam Co, SammyMacman, on Friday.  "It could also be rigged where if you put in the wrong code, you get teleported to like a city jail or something. Inside would be all gold and gems….there could also be a separate area with... safety deposit boxes."

The announcement comes on the heals of several new lots being mapped out and declared ready for development.

"We look forward to continuing on working with Sam Co. They have been a great asset to our city and we welcome them back with open arms." spoke the Mayor during his announcement.

Sam Co. Construction is currently in the process of bringing several projects to life, primarily the Imperial City Opera House which is quickly taking shape right across from City Hall. No date has been announced for the ground breaking of the bank, but it promises to be sizable build within the fair city of Imperial.
